الْإِخْلَاصُ
This verse places sincerity at the heart of worship devoted to Allah.
لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ
to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion
Quran, Al-Bayyina 98:5
The verse reports that they were commanded only to worship Allah with sincere devotion and uprightness. In the same sentence, it also mentions prayer and zakah. This Qalima synthesis keeps to the central place of sincerity without judging anyone else's intention. In daily life, this notion invites us to look at our own intention before an act of worship. It does not require a complicated formula, nor can we read hearts. A few seconds are enough to give our action a conscious direction toward Allah.
Today, before an act of worship, take a few seconds to renew your intention toward Allah inwardly.
