Becoming a Guide through Fulfillment
This verse shows how Abraham became a leader for the people.
Verse from the Qur'an
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:124
۞وَإِذِ ٱبۡتَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ رَبُّهُۥ بِكَلِمَٰتٖ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامٗاۖ قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِيۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهۡدِي ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Abraham was tested with commands and he fulfilled them. It was after that that Allah made him a leader. The verse associates the role of leader with fulfilling trials, and clarifies that the divine covenant excludes the unjust.
Today, we can reflect on our own responsibilities. Fulfilling the tasks entrusted to us with care prepares us to be trustworthy, without ever oppressing others.
