الْإِنْفَاقُ
This verse compares spending in the way of Allah to a seed that grows seven spikes, each with a hundred grains.
مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنۢبَتَتۡ سَبۡعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنۢبُلَةٖ مِّاْئَةُ حَبَّةٖۗ
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:261
The verse uses a simple agricultural image: a single grain can yield seven hundred grains. This image illustrates the multiplication named at the end of the verse. Allah multiplies the reward for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. In our daily lives, we may hesitate to give, thinking our contribution is too small. This verse encourages us to see every act of generosity as a seed that can bear much fruit, even if we do not see its full impact.
Today, give a small amount or an item to someone in need, trusting that it can produce great good.
