اللِّينُ
This verse shows how the Prophet's gentleness gathered hearts.
لِنتَ لَهُمۡۖ وَلَوۡ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ ٱلۡقَلۡبِ لَٱنفَضُّواْ مِنۡ حَوۡلِكَ
You were gentle with them; if you had been rude and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you.
Quran, Al-Imran 3:159
Allah reminds that it is by His mercy that the Prophet was gentle. Gentleness is a divine gift that creates bonds. Harshness, on the contrary, drives people away. The verse associates this gentleness with three actions: forgiving, asking forgiveness for others, and consulting them. In our daily lives, gentleness in our words and attitudes can defuse tensions. Before deciding, we can consult those concerned. After making a decision, we rely on Allah.
Today, speak gently to someone you are in conflict with, and consult them about a decision to make.
