الِاسْتِمَاعُ
This verse teaches us how to receive the recitation of the Qur'an.
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ فَٱسۡتَمِعُواْ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ
So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.

Allah commands us to listen to the Qur'an attentively and to remain silent during its recitation. This humble attitude prepares the heart to receive divine mercy. The previous verse presents the Qur'an as enlightenment, guidance, and mercy for believers; attentive listening is thus a natural response to this gift. In our daily lives, we are often distracted. Taking the time to truly listen to the Qur'an, without speaking or thinking about something else, allows us to connect with its message and draw lessons for action.
Today, listen to a recitation of the Qur'an (even a few verses) in complete silence, without phone or other distractions, and reflect on its meaning.
