طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ
This verse associates faith and knowledge with elevation in degrees.
يَرۡفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ دَرَجَٰتٖ
Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees.
Quran, Al-Mujadila 58:11
The verse begins with a precise instruction: when believers are asked to make room in gatherings, they should do so. It also asks them to rise when told to rise. Allah then states that He raises in degrees the believers and those who have been given knowledge. These instructions and this statement occur in the same verse, without the text defining a causal link between them here. Qalima's synthesis therefore stays restrained: hear the elevation granted to people of knowledge and respect a request to make room when it is made in a gathering.
Read verse 58:11 today; if you are asked to make room in a gathering, respond to that request.
