This verse calls all of humanity to worship their Creator.
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:21
The verse addresses all people. It reminds us that Allah is the Creator of everyone, and of those who came before us. Worshipping this Creator is presented as the way to attain piety, that is, a vigilant consciousness of Him. In our daily life, we can take a moment to recognize the creation around us. This recognition helps us turn to Allah with sincerity, and to cultivate this inner piety.
Today, take one minute to observe an element of creation (a tree, the sky, your own body) and say inwardly: 'My Lord, I worship You, Who created me.'
