عِلْم
The angels humbly acknowledge that all knowledge comes from Allah.
لَا عِلۡمَ لَنَآ إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمۡتَنَآ
We have no knowledge except what You have taught us.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:32
In this verse, the angels respond to Allah with humility. They affirm that they possess no knowledge except what He has taught them. They thus recognize that Allah is the All-Knowing, the Wise. This verse teaches us that all knowledge, whatever it may be, is a gift from Allah. In our daily lives, we sometimes forget that our knowledge is limited and that Allah is the source of all science. This awareness invites us to remain humble and to constantly ask Him to increase our knowledge.
Today, before studying or learning something, say: 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge' (Rabbī zidnī ʿilmā).
