حِطَّة
A simple word, said with humility, opens the door to forgiveness.
وَقُولُواْ حِطَّةٞ نَّغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ خَطَٰيَٰكُمۡۚ
“Say, ‘hittah’ (relieve us of our burdens), We will forgive your sins.”
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:58
In this verse, Allah tells the Children of Israel to enter a town prostrating and saying the word “hittah.” This word expresses a request to be relieved of faults. Allah links this humble attitude to His forgiveness: He promises to forgive their sins. Today, we can draw inspiration from this scene. When we feel weighed down by our mistakes, we can turn to Allah with the same humility. Saying “hittah” in our supplications, with sincerity, is a personal suggestion to revive our awareness of His mercy.
Today, take a moment to prostrate or sit quietly, and say “hittah” inwardly, asking Allah to forgive you.
