شَهَادَة
Jacob, on his deathbed, asks his sons about their worship.
قَالُواْ نَعۡبُدُ إِلَٰهَكَ وَإِلَٰهَ ءَابَآئِكَ إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَ إِلَٰهٗا وَٰحِدٗا وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ
They said, "We worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac – one God, and we are Muslims (submitted) to Him."
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:133
This verse shows Jacob asking his sons what they will worship after him. Their answer combines three elements: worshiping Allah alone, continuity with the faith of the fathers, and total submission. It is a scene of transmission: the father ensures his children remain on the oneness of Allah. Today, we can follow this example by speaking simply about our faith to our children, without waiting for a solemn moment. Teaching them to say "Allah is One" and to obey Him is a precious heritage.
Today, tell your child (or a relative) a simple sentence about Allah's oneness, for example: "We worship Allah alone, and we obey Him."
