كَسْب
This verse reminds us that every generation is responsible for its own deeds.
لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتۡ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبۡتُمۡ
It will have what it earned, and you will have what you have earned.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:134
The verse mentions a past generation. It states that they will receive what they earned, and we will receive what we earn. We will not be asked about their actions. This frees us from an unnecessary burden. In our lives, we may sometimes feel guilty about the mistakes of our parents or ancestors. This verse invites us to focus on our own choices and to act righteously.
Today, think of one action you can take to improve your own conduct, such as helping someone or doing a good deed.
