اَلشَّيْطَان
This verse warns us against the commands of Satan.
إِنَّمَا يَأۡمُرُكُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَأَن تَقُولُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what you do not know.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:169
In the previous verse, Allah warns us not to follow the footsteps of Satan, for he is a clear enemy. Here, He specifies what Satan commands: evil, immorality, and saying about Allah what we do not know. These three are associated as his commands. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to follow our desires or speak without knowledge. This verse reminds us to check our intentions and words, and not to attribute to Allah what is not based on knowledge.
Today, before speaking about a religious matter, verify your source and only say what you know with certainty.
