اَلشُّكْر
This verse invites us to eat what is good and lawful, then to thank Allah for it.
كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱشۡكُرُواْ لِلَّهِ
Eat from the good things which We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:172
In this verse, Allah addresses the believers. He asks them to eat lawful and pure food, then to be grateful to Him. Gratitude is linked to worship: if we worship Allah, we thank Him for His blessings. Every meal is an opportunity to remember Him. Before eating, we can realize that this food is a gift. After the meal, we can express our gratitude with a simple word.
Today, before eating, say inwardly: 'Alhamdulillah' (praise be to Allah) for this meal.
