شُكْر
This verse links the fast of Ramadan to gratitude towards Allah.
so that you may complete the period and glorify Allah for that to which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:185
The verse reminds that Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed, as guidance and criterion. It commands fasting for those who are present, with a concession for the ill and travelers. Allah intends ease, not hardship. By completing the fast, we complete the number of days, glorify Allah for His guidance, and become grateful. Gratitude is thus the fruit of fasting.
Today, take a moment to thank Allah for guiding you to goodness, for example by saying 'Alhamdulillah' sincerely.
