The Best Provision

This verse invites us to take piety as our provision for the journey.

وَتَزَوَّدُواْ فَإِنَّ خَيۡرَ ٱلزَّادِ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ

And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah.

Quran, Al-Baqara 2:197

In this verse, Allah mentions the pilgrimage and its rules. He reminds believers to take provisions for the journey. Then He clarifies that the best provision is piety, that is, consciousness of Allah and reverent fear of Him.

This saying also applies to our daily life. Every day is a journey. We prepare our things, but we especially need piety to guide us. It is a spiritual provision that accompanies us everywhere.

Today, before starting an activity, take a moment to remember that Allah sees you and act accordingly.
