ٱسۡتِغۡفَار
In this verse, Allah invites believers to ask Him for forgiveness.
وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ
and ask forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:199
This verse is part of the instructions given to pilgrims. After leaving Arafat, they are to join the general movement and, above all, ask Allah for forgiveness. The verse reminds us that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful, two qualities that encourage us to turn to Him. In our daily lives, we can also pause for a moment to ask Allah for forgiveness, whether after a mistake or simply to strengthen our bond with Him. Istighfar is a simple practice that reminds us of His mercy.
Today, take a moment to sincerely say: 'Astaghfirullah' (I seek forgiveness from Allah), thinking of a fault you have committed.
