ذِكْرُ اللهِ
After the rites, the Quran invites us to remember Allah with an intensity that surpasses even the memory of our fathers.
فَٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَذِكۡرِكُمۡ ءَابَآءَكُمۡ أَوۡ أَشَدَّ ذِكۡرٗا
Remember Allah like your [previous] remembrance of your fathers or with [much] greater remembrance.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:200
This verse addresses the pilgrims who have just completed their rites. It asks them to remember Allah with the same fervor, or even greater, than they had for their fathers. The immediate context shows that some only think of this world, while others ask for good in both this life and the Hereafter. In our daily lives, we can make a habit of sincerely invoking Allah, asking Him for what is good for us and for our future. This practice helps us keep our hearts turned to Him, even after our acts of worship.
Today, after a prayer or a moment of reflection, say a simple supplication like 'Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter.'
