نَذْر
This verse reminds us that every expenditure and every vow is known to Allah.
وَمَآ أَنفَقۡتُم مِّن نَّفَقَةٍ أَوۡ نَذَرۡتُم مِّن نَّذۡرٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُهُۥۗ
And whatever you spend of expenditures or make of vows - indeed, Allah knows of it.
Quran, Al-Baqara 2:270
Verse 2:270 associates spending and vows: Allah knows them all. It does not specify whether they are good or bad, but it affirms His knowledge. The following verse (2:271) encourages giving to the poor, secretly or openly, and reminds that Allah is fully Acquainted with what you do. In our daily lives, we may sometimes act without thinking, assuming our deeds go unnoticed. This verse invites us to be aware that our actions, even discreet ones, are known to Allah. This can help us act with more sincerity and responsibility.
Today, before making a purchase or a commitment, take a moment to remember that Allah knows it, and choose a righteous action.
