بِطَانَة
This verse warns us against taking as confidants those who are hostile to our faith.
لَا تَتَّخِذُواْ بِطَانَةٗ مِّن دُونِكُمۡ
Do not take as intimates those other than yourselves.
Quran, Al-Imran 3:118
The verse advises believers not to choose as confidants people who are outside their circle and whose hostility is evident. It states that such people wish for our hardship and that their hidden hatred is even greater. In our daily lives, we share our thoughts and plans with close ones. This verse invites us to be vigilant: it is not about distrusting everyone, but about discerning those who wish us well from those who might harm us.
Today, before confiding a secret or a project to someone, ask yourself if that person is truly trustworthy and well-intentioned towards you.
