تَوَكُّل
This verse reminds us that even in weakness, Allah is the ally of the believers.
وَٱللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَاۗ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
But Allah was their ally; and upon Allah the believers should rely.
Quran, Al-Imran 3:122
At the moment of departure for battle, two groups among the believers were about to lose courage. The verse does not blame them, but it affirms that Allah is their ally. It thus brings together the reality of human weakness and the promise of divine support. When our courage wavers, we can turn to Allah. Trust in Him does not deny our emotions; it accompanies them. It is in Him that the believers place their hope.
Today, whenever you feel discouraged, repeat inwardly: 'Allah is my ally, I put my trust in Him.'
