شُكْر
This verse invites us to remain steadfast in faith, even in times of trial.
وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٞ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُۚ أَفَإِيْن مَّاتَ أَوۡ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبۡتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبۡ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيۡهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ وَسَيَجۡزِي ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
Muhammad is not but a messenger – messengers have passed on before him. So if he were to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allah at all; but Allah will reward the grateful.
Quran, Al-Imran 3:144
This verse reminds us that Muhammad ﷺ is a messenger, like those before him. His life is not eternal. Faith does not depend on a person, but on Allah. Turning back after his death would only harm oneself, not Allah. The verse links steadfastness in faith to gratitude. The grateful believer remains attached to his Lord, whatever the circumstances. Today, we can express this shukr through concrete actions.
Take a minute to thank Allah with a sincere word, like 'Alhamdulillah', and do a small good deed as a sign of gratitude.
