قَدَر
This verse responds to those who criticize others' decisions after the fact.
قُلۡ فَٱدۡرَءُواْ عَنۡ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Say, "Then prevent death from yourselves, if you should be truthful."
Quran, Al-Imran 3:168
The verse mentions people who stayed at home and said about their brothers who went to battle: "If they had obeyed us, they would not have been killed." Allah challenges them: if they are so sure, let them ward off death from themselves. No one can do that. This teaches us to avoid useless "if only" regrets. We do not control death or its timing. Instead of criticizing in hindsight, we can trust Allah and focus on our own choices.
Today, whenever you catch yourself thinking "if only," replace that thought with a useful action or a supplication.
