يَتِيم
This verse teaches us to protect the property of orphans with unwavering justice.
وَءَاتُواْ ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُواْ ٱلۡخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِۖ وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوٓاْ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبٗا كَبِيرٗا
And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defective [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:2
This verse commands us to return orphans' property to them, without exchanging it for something inferior, and not to mix it with our own to consume it. That is a grave sin. In our daily lives, it calls us to be scrupulous in managing what belongs to others, especially the vulnerable, and never to take advantage of their weakness.
Today, check if you hold any property belonging to an orphan (or any vulnerable person) and return it to them in full.
