صَدَاق
This verse reminds husbands to give the dowry to their wife, and to accept it with gratitude if she willingly gives up part of it.
وَءَاتُواْ ٱلنِّسَآءَ صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ نِحۡلَةٗۚ فَإِن طِبۡنَ لَكُمۡ عَن شَيۡءٖ مِّنۡهُ نَفۡسٗا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓـٔٗا مَّرِيٓـٔٗا
And give the women [upon marriage] their [bridal] gifts graciously. But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then take it in satisfaction and ease.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:4
The verse commands giving the dowry (mahr) to women as a right, not a burden. It clarifies that if the wife voluntarily gives up part of it, the husband may use it without discomfort. The immediate context deals with just marriage and managing wealth. In daily life, this invites respecting the financial rights of others and receiving with gratitude what is freely offered. A healthy relationship is built on generosity and mutual trust.
Today, if someone gives you a gift or favor, thank them sincerely and use it with gratitude, without taking it for granted.
