Test Before Entrusting

This verse guides guardians in managing the wealth of orphans.

وَٱبۡتَلُواْ ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُواْ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنۡ ءَانَسۡتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ رُشۡدٗا فَٱدۡفَعُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ

Test the orphans until they reach marriageable age; if you perceive in them sound judgment, release their property to them.

Quran, An-Nisa 4:6

The verse instructs to test orphans until they reach maturity. The word rushd refers to the discernment showing they are capable of managing their wealth. Only then should it be handed over.

In our daily lives, this invites us to verify someone's capability before entrusting them with responsibility, especially financial. It is an act of justice and protection.
