This verse invites us to protect the weak, just as we would want our own to be protected.
Let those who would leave weak offspring and fear for them fear Allah and speak just words.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:9
The verse addresses those who manage orphans' property. It asks them to imagine their own weak and unprotected offspring. This image should awaken their fear of Allah and prompt them to act justly. In our daily lives, this means being attentive to vulnerable people, especially children. Before speaking or acting, we can ask ourselves: would I accept this for my own children?
Today, take a moment to think of a vulnerable person around you and decide on a just word to say to them.
