Repent Without Delay

This verse teaches us when Allah accepts repentance.

إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٖ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٖ

Allah only accepts the repentance of those who do wrong in ignorance and then repent soon after.

Quran, An-Nisa 4:17

The verse speaks of those who do wrong out of ignorance, meaning without full awareness. As soon as they realize their mistake, they turn back to Allah without delay. Allah promises to accept them, for He is All-Knowing and Wise.

In our daily lives, we may sometimes act out of carelessness or haste. As soon as we become aware of an error, the right reflex is to return to Allah quickly, without postponing it.

Today, as soon as you realize a mistake, say inwardly: 'I repent to Allah' and decide not to repeat it.
