تَرَاضٍ
This verse teaches us an essential rule for fair relationships.
إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٖ مِّنكُمۡۚ
…unless it be a trade by mutual consent among you.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:29
In this verse, Allah forbids consuming others' wealth unjustly. He permits trade, however, provided it is based on free and mutual agreement. The word 'tarāḍin' denotes this mutual satisfaction. The following verse reminds that transgression leads to severe punishment, highlighting the importance of this rule. In our daily lives, this invites us to ensure our transactions are honest and consensual. Whether for a purchase, a loan, or a share, everyone must be fully in agreement. This protects everyone's rights and builds trust.
Today, before concluding an exchange, ask yourself if the other party truly consents and if the transaction is fair.
