إِيمَان
This verse invites us to reflect on the good we do to ourselves by believing and giving.
وَمَاذَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَوۡ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمۡ عَلِيمًا
And what [harm would come] upon them if they believed in Allah and the Last Day and spent out of what Allah provided for them? And Allah is ever, about them, Knowing.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:39
The previous verse mentions those who spend to show off without believing. Here, the central verse associates faith in Allah and the Last Day with spending from what He has given. It does not define faith by spending, but it brings them together as two beneficial attitudes. In our daily lives, we can apply this by giving our time, money, or skills, simply to please Allah, without seeking to be seen. Allah knows our actions and their worth.
Today, give something (time, money, help) secretly, without anyone knowing, while thinking of Allah.
