تَزْكِيَة
This verse invites us to humility regarding our own purity.
بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يُزَكِّي مَن يَشَآءُ
Rather, Allah purifies whom He wills.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:49
The verse questions those who declare themselves pure. It affirms that purification belongs to Allah alone. No one can attribute this quality to themselves. Boasting of one's own purity is blameworthy. Allah purifies whom He wills, according to His wisdom. No one is wronged, even by a tiny amount. In our daily lives, we may easily think we are better than others. This verse reminds us to remain humble. We do not know what Allah thinks of us. Instead of proclaiming ourselves pure, we should strive to improve our hearts and actions.
Today, avoid boasting about your good deeds. Ask Allah to purify your heart.
