عَدْل
This verse teaches us two requirements of justice in our relationships.
وَإِذَا حَكَمۡتُم بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَن تَحۡكُمُواْ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ
And when you judge between people, judge with justice.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:58
Allah commands to return trusts to their rightful owners and to judge with fairness. These two commands are linked: they protect trust and equity in our interactions. The verse reminds that Allah hears and sees all, inviting sincerity. In our daily life, this means giving back what is entrusted to us, even without witnesses, and being fair in our judgments, even among close ones. Justice is not an option but a moral duty.
Today, return a borrowed item or a piece of confidential information to its owner, and strive to be impartial in a decision affecting others.
