This verse teaches us an important truth about justice in family relationships.
And you will never be able to be equal [in feeling] between wives, even if you should strive [to do so]. So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:129
Allah informs us that perfect fairness between wives is impossible, even with great desire. He commands us, however, not to incline completely toward one, leaving the other in a state of uncertainty. This verse combines a human reality with a duty of justice. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to favor one person over another. This verse invites us to strive for fairness and piety, reminding us that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Today, examine your interactions and ensure you treat those under your care fairly, avoiding any marked preference.
