ثَوَاب
This verse reminds us that all reward, in this life and the Hereafter, is in Allah's hands.
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ ثَوَابُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
Whoever desires the reward of this world - then with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:134
This verse teaches us that the reward of this world and that of the Hereafter belong to Allah. He grants them as He wills. So we should not cling to fleeting gains, but seek what is with Allah. In our daily lives, we may be tempted by immediate benefits. This verse invites us to purify our intention: to act to please Allah, knowing that He alone holds all reward.
Today, before an action, ask yourself: 'Am I seeking Allah's reward?' Then do that action with that intention.
