قِسْط
This verse calls us to be witnesses of justice, even if it goes against our own interests.
كُونُواْ قَوَّـٰمِينَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَوِ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَۚ
Be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives.
Quran, An-Nisa 4:135
The verse asks believers to be constantly just and to testify for Allah, even if it goes against themselves or their relatives. It clarifies that wealth or poverty should not influence our testimony, for Allah knows better their interests. In our daily lives, this means not letting our preferences or emotional ties distort our judgment. We must seek truth and fairness, even when it is difficult.
Today, examine a situation where you might be biased toward a relative and decide to act with fairness.
