تَقْوَى
This verse invites us to discern good from evil, even when evil seems impressive.
قُل لَّا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡخَبِيثُ وَٱلطَّيِّبُ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكَ كَثۡرَةُ ٱلۡخَبِيثِۚ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ يَـٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ
Say, "Not equal are the evil and the good, although the abundance of evil might impress you." So fear Allah, O you of understanding, that you may be successful.
Quran, Al-Ma'ida 5:100
This verse states that evil and good are not equal, even if evil is abundant and attracts attention. It does not say that evil becomes good because it is widespread. It calls us to taqwā, that awareness of Allah that helps us choose what is good. In our daily lives, we often see bad behaviors appearing normal or successful. This verse reminds us not to be impressed by appearances. True success is to fear Allah and follow what is good.
Today, before making a decision, ask yourself: "Does this bring me closer to Allah?" Choose the good, even if it is less visible.
