لَا تَسْأَلُوا
This verse teaches us to avoid unnecessary questions that could cause us harm.
لَا تَسۡـَٔلُواْ عَنۡ أَشۡيَآءَ إِن تُبۡدَ لَكُمۡ تَسُؤۡكُمۡ
Do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you.
Quran, Al-Ma'ida 5:101
Allah advises believers not to inquire about matters that, if revealed, would cause them grief. The previous verse reminds that the evil and the good are not equal, and the next shows that other peoples asked such questions and suffered the consequences. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to ask questions out of mere curiosity, without thinking about the consequences. This verse invites us to exercise restraint and focus on what is beneficial for our faith and well-being.
Today, before asking a question, ask yourself if the answer could harm you or bring you good. If it might harm you, refrain.
