رَحْمَة
This verse teaches us that Allah has written mercy upon Himself.
كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَةَۚ
He has decreed upon Himself mercy.
Quran, Al-An'aam 6:12
In this verse, Allah tells the Prophet to remind people that everything belongs to Him. Then He reveals a great truth: He has prescribed mercy upon Himself. This means His mercy is a certain promise, not just a hope. The verse also announces the gathering on the Day of Resurrection, without any doubt. This certainty nourishes our hope. Even when we falter, Allah's mercy is vaster than our mistakes. We can return to Him with confidence, because He has chosen to be Merciful.
Today, remind yourself of this promise by saying: 'O Allah, Your mercy is written upon Yourself, grant me some of Your mercy.'
