خَوْف
This verse teaches us that the fear of Allah's punishment helps us obey and avoid disobedience.
قُلۡ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
Quran, Al-An'aam 6:15
In this verse, the Prophet ﷺ expresses his fear of disobeying Allah and facing the punishment of the Last Day. This fear is not paralyzing but a awareness that drives him to remain faithful. It is linked to mercy: the next verse reminds that whoever is spared that Day has received Allah's grace. In our daily lives, this fear helps us make good choices. When we hesitate between obeying and disobeying, we can remember that our actions have consequences. This awareness encourages us to act righteously, not out of excessive fear, but out of love and respect for our Lord.
Today, before each action, ask yourself: "Would Allah be pleased?" and choose what pleases Him.
