شَهِيد
In this verse, the Prophet is asked to declare that Allah is witness between him and his people.
قُلِ ٱللَّهُۖ شَهِيدُۢ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَكُمۡۚ وَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَۚ
Say: "Allah is witness between me and you; and this Qur'an has been revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches."

The verse answers a question: what testimony is greatest? The answer is clear: Allah Himself is witness. He attests to the truth of the prophetic message. The Qur'an is that revelation given to warn, and it addresses all whom it reaches, across time. We can rely on this divine testimony. The Qur'an is not ordinary speech: it is a warning that reaches us personally. Recognizing it means accepting that we are concerned by its message.
