Pray, Fear, and Remember the Return

This verse reminds us of two essential commands and our final return to Allah.

وَأَنۡ أَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّقُوهُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ

And to establish prayer and fear Him. And it is He to whom you will be gathered.

Quran, Al-An'aam 6:72

In this passage, Allah commands us to establish prayer and to fear Him. He then mentions that it is to Him that we will be gathered. The verse thus brings together action and awareness: prayer, fear of Allah, and the certainty of the return.

In daily life, these teachings invite us to pray regularly and to live with the awareness that we will return to Allah. This gives meaning to our choices and helps us remain humble.

Today, before each prayer, remind yourself that you will be gathered to Allah, and perform your prayer with that awareness.
