الإثم
This verse calls us to leave every sin, whether committed openly or in secret.
وَذَرُواْ ظَٰهِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٱلۡإِثۡمَ سَيُجۡزَوۡنَ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَقۡتَرِفُونَ
And leave what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit.
Quran, Al-An'aam 6:120
The verse commands to leave all sin, whether visible or hidden. It does not differentiate between the two: both are forbidden. Then it reminds that everyone will be recompensed for their deeds, which encourages responsibility. In our daily life, we may be tempted to hide some wrong actions. This verse teaches us that secrecy changes nothing: sin remains sin. It invites us to cultivate inner consistency, where our visible and invisible actions are good.
Today, identify a bad habit you hide and decide to give it up, even if no one sees it.
