رَحْمَة
This verse invites us to reflect on Allah's mercy and His severity towards criminals.
“Your Lord is the possessor of vast mercy; but His punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals.”
Quran, Al-An'aam 6:147
In this verse, Allah teaches the Prophet ﷺ how to respond to those who deny him. He affirms that his Lord possesses vast mercy, but also that His punishment cannot be repelled from criminals. These two aspects are combined: mercy is vast, and punishment reaches those who persist in crime. This statement encourages us not to despair of Allah's mercy, while reminding us not to take His limits lightly. We can always seek refuge in Him, but we must also avoid what He has forbidden.
Today, reflect on one divine prohibition you can avoid, and ask Allah to cover you with His mercy.
