عَدْل
This verse teaches us to be fair, even towards our relatives.
وَإِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡدِلُواْ وَلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰ
And when you speak, be just, even if it concerns a near relative.
Quran, Al-An'aam 6:152
In this passage, Allah recommends justice in speech and testimony, without exception. Even if the person involved is a relative, fairness must prevail. The verse is part of a list of divine injunctions, including protecting the orphan's property and fulfilling covenants. In our daily lives, it is easy to favor a relative or stay silent about a truth out of affection. Yet justice is a quality to be cultivated. Today, let us practice weighing our words fairly, even in a simple conversation.
Before speaking today, ask yourself: are my words just, even if they concern a relative?
