مِيزَان
On the Day of Judgment, our deeds will be weighed with perfect justice.
وَٱلۡوَزۡنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡحَقُّۚ فَمَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful
Quran, Al-A'raf 7:8
This verse announces that the weighing of deeds on the Day of Judgment will be equitable. It associates success with those whose scales are heavy with good deeds. The preceding verse reminds us that Allah knows everything we do, and the following one specifies that those whose scales are light will have lost their souls. This image invites us to make our scales heavy starting today. Every good deed, even a small one, counts. We can multiply acts of kindness and piety in our daily lives.
Perform a sincere good deed today, such as helping someone or giving charity, with the intention that it will make your scale heavy.
