Full Measure, a Duty of Justice

This verse addressed to the people of Madyan reminds us of a universal principle of justice.

فَأَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ وَٱلۡمِيزَانَ

So fulfill the measure and weight.

Quran, Al-A'raf 7:85

The Prophet Shu'ayb calls his people to worship Allah alone, then he follows with a concrete requirement: give full measure and exact weight. He also forbids depriving people of their due and causing corruption on earth. These recommendations are linked: faith translates into just actions.

In our daily life, this concerns all exchanges: giving exact change, respecting agreed work time, or not cheating on a quantity. Justice begins with small acts of honesty.
