Holding Fast to the Book, a Promise from Allah

This verse links holding fast to the Book with prayer, and includes a divine promise.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجۡرَ ٱلۡمُصۡلِحِينَ

But those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers.

Quran, Al-A'raf 7:170

This verse brings together two attitudes: holding firmly to the Book and establishing prayer. It follows a passage that criticizes those who inherit the Scripture but prefer fleeting worldly gains. Here, Allah promises not to waste the reward of those who reform themselves and act righteously.
