الْعَفْو
This verse invites us to adopt an attitude of clemency and wisdom.
خُذِ ٱلۡعَفۡوَ وَأۡمُرۡ بِٱلۡعُرۡفِ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ
Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant.
Quran, Al-A'raf 7:199
In this verse, Allah teaches the Prophet ﷺ a complete attitude: practice forgiveness, encourage good, and turn away from the ignorant. These three counsels form a whole for a peaceful social life. In daily life, this means being tolerant with others, inviting them to do good, and not dwelling on ignorant words or behaviors. This requires patience and self-control.
Today, when someone is unpleasant, choose to respond gently or walk away calmly, without entering into conflict.
