الاستماع
This verse teaches us how to welcome the recitation of the Quran.
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ فَٱسۡتَمِعُواْ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ
So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.
Quran, Al-A'raf 7:204
The verse commands two simple attitudes: listen attentively and be silent. It is not just about hearing, but about being fully present. This attentive listening is linked to receiving divine mercy. In our daily lives, we are often distracted. When the Quran is recited, we can choose to pause for a moment. Even a few verses listened to with an open heart is enough to reconnect.
Today, listen to a short surah (like Al-Ikhlas) in silence, without doing anything else, and reflect on its meaning.
