أمانة
This verse calls us not to betray Allah, His Messenger, and the trusts placed in us.
لَا تَخُونُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓاْ أَمَٰنَٰتِكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Do not betray Allah and the Messenger, and do not betray your trusts knowingly.
Quran, Al-Anfal 8:27
The verse addresses the believers. It asks them not to betray Allah and His Messenger, and then not to betray the trusts. The word 'amāna' refers to everything entrusted to us: a secret, a property, a responsibility. The word 'knowingly' shows that betrayal is a deliberate act, not a mere mistake. In daily life, we receive trusts every day: personal information, a borrowed item, a task at work. Respecting these trusts is part of our commitment to Allah. The following verse reminds us that our wealth and children are a trial, highlighting the importance of staying honest even in our attachments.
Today, identify a trust placed in you (a secret, an object, a task) and fulfill it with care, without betraying it.
