استغفار
This verse shows how seeking forgiveness can protect a community from punishment.
وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ
But Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.
Quran, Al-Anfal 8:33
In this verse, Allah links the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and the practice of istighfar to protection from punishment. The context refers to people who had challenged Allah, yet even for them, seeking forgiveness opens a door of mercy. For us, this reminds us that istighfar is a powerful act. In our daily lives, when we feel distant from Allah or burdened by our mistakes, asking for forgiveness is a way to return to Him and benefit from His clemency.
Today, take a moment to sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness, saying for example: 'O Lord, I ask You for forgiveness.'
